In my workplace, we get 2 hours off for lunch on Fridays and since I work in Cyberjaya ... that is really a blessing i.e. there aren't much interesting restaurants in Cyberjaya. This is also the day we get adventurous ... going out, hunting for a good meal. From Cyberjaya .. we've travelled to Kajang for Ice Kacang and Chi Cheong Fun ... to USJ, Taipan for Italian food ... Sungai Long for Pan Mee and for this round, we headed to Serdang for some nice hot Pig Intestine Pepper Soup ! AHEKO Hot Soup Restaurant is located next to South Sity Plaza in Serdang. Head towards South City Plaza, there are 2 rows of shop, right next to the Mall. AHEKO is right in the middle ... if you drive along the shoplots .. you'll never miss the big red signboard .....



Hot Soup is the speciality in this restaurant .. the Pig Intestine Pepper soup. Non-Asians might get a little turned off by the name of the soup, but trust me ... try it and you might get hooked to it. It's really good especially in cold weather ... imaging sipping this hot pepperish spicy soup in a cold winter night. YUMMY ! (Not that I've tried that before .. I imagine a lot). Besides the soup, another speciality is the Wine and Black Sauce Spicy Chicken .. another delicacy ! As the name mentioned ... the dish is a little spicy with a little wine taste ! A reminder though .. drink lot's of fluid after this meal. In chinese ... we would say .. this meal is a little "heaty" ... if you know what I mean.  LOL  LOL  LOL 

The price here is not at all expensive .. the soup is between RM8.00 to RM12.00 which serves from 4 to 8 person and averagely, the dishes are between those pricing. A meal for 10 would come up to around RM100 ++ which is reasonable, I would say. 

For those adventurous diner, you might want to try making this dish on your own. Here's the instruction. Good luck on the intestine though .....

<title><![CDATA[ERIC DELI PARADISE]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[The 'Eric' mentioned in Eric Deli Paradise is referring to the Hong Kong celebrity Eric Tsang famous for his popular SuperTrio game show , if you really must know. But I do believe Eric Tsang do not own Eric Deli Paradise, well not wholely but having his image pasted all over this red and white themed restaurant as a part of deco does attract curious diners such as me.



Eric Deli Paradise is located on the ground floor of Hartamas Shopping Centre  covering a huge chunk of the right wing ... from unit G11B - G15 to be exact, right next to the entrance of the parking lot. Just check out the map provided above. The place is huge therefore not a problem to find a table. I guess the restaurant could easily fit 350 people or so ... with private function rooms too.



Anyway, since I was there to try out the 'tim sum' ... I didn't had the chance to review their popular Sze Chuan dishes (noted in my next to do list). The ordering style is exactly like what you get in some other popular Hong Kong based restaurants and cafe .. a paper menu with pencil for you to start ticking away. Call me old-fashioned but I still don't feel comfortable ordering stuffs that I can't visualize. Not having much of a choice, I made some choices and 'submitted' my orders to the ever-smilling service personnels dressed in all-red.

A glance-thru the crowds ... my next table, 2 couples - probably rich (expensive sunglass stuck on hair nited) with screaming babies, sigh! Looked the other way, an old couple ... quietly enjoying their lunch ..probably felt irritated at my staring .. also rich looking. Seriously, I should review my observations. I am probably biased ... everyone looking rich just because I am in Hartamas area  :-S

ANYWAY ... this is what I've ordered .... with a couple of other stuffs and the total bill for 2 person came up to about RM64.00. Quite a hefty amount ... I would say. But then again .. it is Hartamas!  8-)  8-)  8-)

Be The First To Eat. That's the tagline for Sri Karak Restaurant. 

If you have been to Karak town or frequently drive along the Karak Highway, you must have come across or at least heard of the famous Yik Kei Restaurant which is very much praised for its durian puffs as well as hearty Chinese food.

Yik Kei has now expanded it's business into Klang Valley in the form of Sri Karak Restaurant offering the same delicious cooking as the orriginal Yik Kei. While Yik Kei in Karak is a non-halal outlet, Seri Karak is pork-free. The food is pretty much the same, though, and showcases some of the produce that Pahang is famous for: thin French beans from the highlands, deliciously smooth and slippery patin fish and, of course, the king of fruits, the durian.

Most pastries in Seri Karak are self-baked The building has a separate section in the front of its multi-storey, bright-coloured restaurant that is dedicated to baked products. Products are baked only once in the morning and only sold while stocks last. There are homemade Swiss rolls slathered with coconut jam, Portuguese egg tarts, durian-flavoured egg tarts and the famous Durian Bomb, wherein creamy durian is mixed with sweet potato and then deep-fried until it is crispy on the outside but meltingly soft on the inside. 

The pricing are very reasonable in Sri Karak. Here's a list of what I've eaten and the pricing.

Steamed Assorted Eggs (regular sized)- RM8.00
Durian Bomb - RM1.60 each

With drinks and plain rice, the bill came up to about RM46.00. I'd say it's quite ok for a 3 person meal. By the way, they do charge service/tax charges.

<title><![CDATA[Ka-Soh Seafood Restaurant]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[KA-SOH (sister-in-law in Cantonese) owes its name to the belief that this person in the Chinese patriarchy is usually filled by someone quite dedicated, diligent and hardworking.

Ka-Soh Seafood Restaurant is situated in a car park opposite the Ritz Carlton entrance and behind The Westin. Ka Soh sounds so ordinary but rumour has it that there has been loads of Chinese celebrities from abroad and local who've sat and ate here. Proof comes in the form of celebrity photographs on their notice board as a testament to their visit.

Ka-Soh is famous for their Fishhead Noodles (鱼头米粉), Kah-Soh curry fish head and the special Prawn Paste Fried Chicken (虾酱鸡).

<title><![CDATA[A Pre-VIEW @ JGTC]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[I won't be @ JGTC this year ... and don't ask me why. And these shots were taken, during one of HITZ's fm's road promo - and coincidentally, I was was passing by ... and coincidentally, I had my camera ... and also coincidentally, I have my tripod which really helped my a lot as these shots were taken at night, in front of A&W Restaurant in PJ. Anyway ... here it is .. with some accompanying information for those of you who knows nuts about JGTC .. like me.  LOL 



The Super GT series, formerly known as the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship or JGTC, is a grand touring car race series authorized by the Japan Automobile Federation and recognized by the FIA.

The Cars

The cars are divided into two groups: GT500 and GT300 (cars with no more than 500 and 300 horsepower [374 and 224 kW], respectively). These power outputs are capped via the use of intake restrictors although some heavier cars are given allowances to run larger restrictors to maintain parity. In order to ensure maximum excitement, both GT500 and GT300 groups are run at the same time although points are awarded separately for each group.

GT500
The top class in Super GT, GT500, is dominated by the Big 3 Japanese automakers: Toyota (Supra / Lexus SC430 (new for 2006)), Honda (NSX) and Nissan (Fairlady Z) with some privateer teams running Ferrari, Lamborghini, or other European marques..





Regulations in GT500 are considerably looser than most GT classifications, and teams are free to change engines with other models made by the manufacturer, change the alignment of the engine, or add forced-induction to models which do not normally have it. The chassis may also be heavily modified, with lightweight tube-frame 'clips' being allowed forward and back of the main cockpit, although the car must overall look similar to its road-going variant. These regulations result in cars which are possibly the fastest GT racing cars in the world. In recent years however, rule changes in both GT500 and FIA GT1 (aimed at eventually allowing both classes to compete with each other in the future) have brought the cars closer to each other, although GT500 cars still have a notable advantage - an FIA GT1 spec Maserati MC12 entered (and later withdrawn) by Team Goh was losing at least 1 second in the corners during testing at the Suzuka Circuit. Some traditional sports-car fans spurn these cars as being outside the limits of 'acceptable' modifications.

Electronic aids such as ABS, Traction Control and Stability control are not allowed even if fitted to the road going variant and Carbon brakes are prohibited. There are also restrictions regarding placement and size of aerodynamic aids such as wings and spoilers. The choice of tyres is also varied with Bridgestone, Yokohama, Dunlop, Kumho, Michelin and Hankook (new for 2006) available to teams.

GT300
Few works teams participate in GT300, so the field tends to be much more varied in terms of types of cars entered; although here, as in many European and North American events, Porsche tends to dominate with its 996GT3 model making up the bulk of the field. Smaller Japanese car makers such as Mazda and Subaru also participate in this class, as well as more exotic kit-builder cars from the likes of Vemac and ASL. Since 2006, European-style GT cars have chosen to concentrate in this series, with Lamborghini leading the move from the higher division with some success, namely winning the class in the opening round of the 2006 season at Suzuka.





GT300 cars are much more regulated than their GT500 counterparts, and much more closely resemble road-going versions. Chassis clips are not allowed, nor are engine substitutions or realignments, which results in a much more affordable racing experience for privateers. While engine outputs and modifications are at a lower level than the GT500 cars, the GT300 cars still post competitive times and races are very competitive.

<title><![CDATA[Corvus Splendens]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[These photos were taken at home during one idllyic afternoon. This crow is somewhat like our pet as he comes over every single day. Of course, it all started after I fed his once. I actually named him Jack. Jack Black, to be exact. Jack, like any other decent crows in Malaysia (I don't know about crows in other countries) - don't like to be photographed. In this case, using the 10x optical zoom in my Finepix S5000; I was able to capture Jack's shot. Of course, I had the camera rested on my door grill to gain stability.

Information on the Common House Crow (Corvus splendens)

The House Crow (Corvus splendens) is a common Asian bird native to India, Pakistan, Ceylon, Maldives and Laccadive Islands, South West Thailand and coastal southern Iran. It has been introduced to East Africa around Zanzibar and Port Sudan, and arrived in Australia via ship but has up to now been exterminated. It is associated with human settlements in all of its range, from small villages to large cities.

It is between the Jackdaw and the Carrion Crow in size (40 cm in length) but is relatively slimmer than either. The forehead, crown, throat and upper breast are a richly glossed black, whilst the neck and breast are a lighter grey-brown in colour. The wings, tail and legs are black. There are regional variations in the thickness of the bill and the depth of colour in areas of the plumage.

It feeds largely on human scraps, small reptiles and other animals such as insects and other small invertebrates, eggs, nestlings, grain and fruits. Most food is taken from the ground, but also from trees as opportunity arises. At least some trees in the local environment seem to be necessary for its successful breeding. It lays 3-6 eggs in a typical stick nest, and occasionally there are several nests in the same tree.

The voice is a harsh caaa-caaa

Due to a human population explosion in the areas it inhabits, this species has also proportionately multiplied. Being an omnivorous scavenger has enabled it to thrive in such circumstances, given that western standards of hygiene infrastructure in the Indian subcontinent is uncommon. Moreover this species (like several other Corvus species) is known for its cleverness. Among bird hunters it is generally accepted that unlike most birds, these crows can instantly recognise a gun and take flight in an instant.





Mythology and folklore

Crows, and especially ravens, often feature in legends or mythology as portents or harbingers of doom or death, because of their dark plumage, unnerving calls, and tendency to eat carrion. They are commonly thought to circle above scenes of death such as battles.

In Native American folklore, Crow is often seen as a similar trickster to Coyote. However, Crow's tricks tend to be more out of malice and they rarely (if ever) are portrayed as a hero. One possible explanation for this is that crows are often considered a pest to crops, which the tribes who came up with the stories featuring Crow needed to survive.

In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Chaldean myth, the character Utnapishtim releases a dove and a raven to find land, similar to what Noah does in the book of Genesis. However, in the Epic of Gilgamesh, the dove merely circles and returns. Only then does Utnapishtim send forth the raven, who does not return. Utnapishtim extrapolates from this that the raven has found land, which is why it hasn't returned. This would seem to indicate some acknowledgement of crow intelligence, which may have been apparent even in ancient times, and to some might imply that the higher intelligence of crows, when compared to other birds, is striking enough that it was known even then.  :P ]]></description>
